LET'S BUILD A VOLCANO!

ACTIVITY 1: MOULDING

1.Mix the plaster. Add water to the mixing bowl. Open a bag of plaster powder and pour it into the mixing bowl. Keep the ratio of water and plaster powder about 4: 5.Then use the muddler to start stirring gently.Do not stir for too long or the plaster will start to set. if it starts to develop into a 'lump' , it will be hard to use it for moulding.

2.Put the volcano mould on a level surface with the cavity side facing upwards.Pour the plaster mixture into the cavity.Gently shake the mould to get rid of any air bubbles from the plaster.

3. Leave the plaster to set. This will take approximately 30 minutes.Spread a tea towel out on a flat surface and gently press the mould from behind so the hardened plaster shapes fall out onto the towel.

ACTIVITY 2: PAINTING

When the plaster volcano is completely dry(this will normally take 24 hours) , you canpaint them.There are6 paints and 2 paintbrushs in this kit.You can refer to the pattern shown on the package to paint it.

ACTIVITY 3:ERUPTION

1. Put on the safety goggles provided.

2. Put the citric acid and

baking soda at the top of the volcano.Then add water into it. BURNING NOW!
