This is a rare vintage Italian glazed ceramic Trompe L’oeil mushroom casserole dish. Trompe-l’œil means ‘to deceive the eye’ in French & is an artistic term for the highly realistic optical illusion of three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface. On this piece, that is the mushrooms & spaghetti style grass on the top. It is marked Italy on the bottom & is from the 1960s. It is in great used/vintage condition. Measures: 10.5"W x 7.5"D x 7"H.
