This is a Navajo seed pot crafted by Ken & Irene White Navajo natives from Montezuma Creek, UT.
Navajo pottery was traditionally used in cooking. When used for water storage it was covered with pine pitch to waterproof it. Thus you see the distinctive gloss varnish. Brightly colored etchings are of a Yei which is a stylized figure of a Navajo deity adapted from the sand painting designs of the religious healing ceremonies.
Pot is in good previously owned vintage condition.
