  • HISTORY ASPECTS -
The Mitsubishi A6M3 Zero, flown by the 9-victory ace Kazuo Tsunoda of the 2nd Kokutai in the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service (IJNAS), played a crucial role in the early stages of the Pacific theater during World War II. Tsunoda's aircraft was stationed at Buna Airfield in New Guinea in 1942, where it participated in intense aerial conflicts. The A6M3, an upgraded version of the iconic Zero, boasted improved speed and maneuverability, making it a formidable opponent in dogfights.
During the battles over New Guinea, Tsunoda achieved notable success, securing victories that contributed to the early dominance of the Japanese forces in the region. The A6M3's agility and long range allowed it to outperform many of its adversaries. However, as the war progressed, the limitations of the Zero became apparent against more advanced Allied aircraft.
This 1 - 72 scale model meticulously replicates the A6M3 Zero flown by Kazuo Tsunoda, capturing the details of the aircraft and its markings from the Buna Airfield. Aviation enthusiasts and collectors can now own a piece of history, commemorating the skill and bravery of the pilots who flew the iconic Mitsubishi Zero during the Pacific War.
